This past month saw the reopening of non essential shops and although I have slowly started to get back in the big wide world, I am not quite ready to go completely back to normal. I have been out shopping once and utilised the relaxation rollerball and the techniques in Anna Mathur’s book to make it easier on my mind. I think a lot of people are feeling the same and to be honest, I am enjoying some slow days at home with Rosie whilst we can.

My little sister gave me a bottle of Boë Scottish Bramble liqueur as part of my birthday present and there was a tag on the bottle that showed you how to make the Perfect Pour. (50ml of Boë Scottish Bramble liqueur served over crushed ice, topped up with ginger ale and garnished with lime and blackberries.) Really simple and really refreshing – I can’t wait for the warmer weather to sit and enjoy one in the garden. Plus I love a drink that doesn’t need loads of fancy ingredients.
I found Anna’s Instagram when Rosie was really small and I was really suffering with post natal depression. Her posts are honest and relatable and the open conversation that she has created through her social media helped me to work on my own anxieties and bridge the gaps. As soon as she launched her first book Mind Over Mother, I preordered it instantly and have since read, re read and now dip in and out of chapters when I need a refresh. I would highly recommend it to everyone, not just new mums.
Now that everything has started to reopen, it is very easy to become overwhelmed so having this pulse point rollerball in my bag has been a huge help in keeping my grounded. The blend of bergamot, frankincense and lavender calms me instantly.
My skin can be quite temperamental so when I started to introduce a retinol in to my routine, I knew I would need something calming and lightweight to use alongside it. This contains soothing aloe, vitamin E and natural milk proteins and is the cream that Kate uses herself when her eczema flares up.
Our weekend away.
The total highlight of April for me was our little trip to the seaside for my 30th birthday. It is the first time we have been away just the 3 of us and it was a nice break from reality, especially as everything was starting to reopen. We ate hot donuts, played on the beach and walked loads. Dan bought me an Instax camera for my birthday which was put to use to take loads of pictures of Rosie having fun. We also got to meet up with my sister which was amazing as I haven’t seen her since Christmas.
