Products I have used up recently – Makeup November 2021.

Unfortunately this month I have used up quite a lot of my key everyday makeup and skincare products which means I will be either looking at an expensive trip to Boots or having a rummage in my stash. This post focuses on the makeup products that I have used over the last month or so, I also have posts on the Body and Haircare and Skincare I have used up.

Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder – Bare

I really do love this powder but now that I don’t work in the beauty industry (and get incredible discounts) I cannot quite justify spending £44 a time on a powder that I get through so quickly. Using this religiously over the last couple of years has shown me that powder is beneficial, even for drier skin, it’s just down to getting the right one. Next on my radar is the Beauty Pie One Powder Wonder.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation – 0 Porcelain

Bobbi Brown foundations in my opinion, are one of the best on the market. The colour porcelain is a great match for my skin tone and has a neutral base – I struggle with finding colours that are light enough to match but aren’t overly pink. The skin foundation is a water based, natural finish formula that feels weightless on the skin but gives light to medium coverage. I have a couple of new foundations to try but I would class this as one of my all time favourites.

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation Stick – 0 Porcelain

If you havent tried the Bobbi Brown Foundation stick then you really need to give it a go. A super fast, super easy way to apply your foundation, you simply swipe it all over your face and either buff it in with a brush (the Bobbi Brown full coverage face brush is amazing) or your fingers. It is considerably less messy than pouring foundation on to your hands and is perfect for on the go. There is already a replacement in my bag.

Clinique Chubby Stick – Woppin’ Watermelon.

I am a huge fan of the Chubby Stick lipstick range from Clinique. They are incredibly moisturising due to the blend of mango seed butter and shea butter – this also means that when the colour wears off, that your lips are still moisturised. The colour payoff is quite sheer which is perfect for everyday.

Dior Glow Maximiser (Discontinued)

I worked for Dior when they announced the discontinuation of Glow Maximiser and there was uproar. Loved my many industry favourites including Sali Hughes, this radiance boosting primer not only adds the perfect amount of glow, but also smooths out the surface of the skin. The glow is seen through my layers of makeup and lasts all day. Similar products that I love include Mac Strobe Cream and Bobbi Brown Extra Illuminating Balm.

Nars Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base.

I am always surprised this isn’t more popular than it is. An almost transparent base colour, it provides an even base for eyeshadow. Without it I don’t find my eyeshadow always lasts til the end of the day and is more likely to be patchy.

Loreal Lumi Magique Concealer (Discontinued)

I definitely used this up for the sake of using it up. I would have to use it over the top of my everyday concealer as the coverage wasn’t quite enough even with my light bisque concealer underneath. These highlighting concealers (YSL Touche Eclat etc) offer a very light wash of coverage instead illuminating and adding radiance to the skin.

Clinique Quickliner for Eyes – Smokey Brown.

My favourite eyeliner of all time. It even featured in my September Favourites. Repeating what I have said about it previously, it really is one of the creamiest eyeliners I have tried. The colour is a really soft, cool toned brown and makes a softer alternative to a black eyeliner for everyday. I have one of these in my makeup bag and another in my freelance kit, it really is a must have.

Sheesh, you are really getting through products lately – blooming well done! it must be so satisfying to be clearing the decks and making way for whatever you find in your stash.

I really like the Nars eye primer but I feel as though none will ever be as groundbreaking as when UD first released theirs (and even theirs I don’t think works as well anymore). Always great to have the mini Nars on hand and in the bag to help prolong eyeshadow wear.

Those discounts are forever something I will miss, nothing prepares you for full price high end!
