We recently saw the return of the My John Lewis Beauty Weekend, having managed to get a ticket in the previous 2 events during lockdown, I was keen to reserve a place for this round. Tickets went on sale first thing on the 12th March and by lunchtime the gold tickets had completely sold out. Luckily I was poised and ready to buy my ticket, deciding to go for the panel with Maria Reyes – Retail and Education director at IT Cosmetics and consultant dermatologist Dr Anjali Mahto. The masterclass covered both skincare, makeup and finished with a question/answer session. The event was a virtual webinar (thankfully our cameras were off so we could enjoy in our comfies!) – I really hope that they continue to hold these events virtually post lockdown, living in Yorkshire it is so much more accessible and meant I could just pop upstairs with a coffee whilst Rosie played downstairs with her Daddy. Had it been an event instore, I would likely not to have been able to go, especially since they have sadly closed our local store.
There were two tickets available to purchase: the Gold Ticket cost £35 and includes entry to the event, a £15 voucher to spend and an exclusive goody bag (worth over £200). The Silver Ticket cost £15 and included entry to the talk and a £15 voucher. The voucher was redeemable on the hosting brand only – so mine was redeemable on IT Cosmetics. There were 2 general events (if I remember correctly) which were not brand affiliated – these vouchers could be spent on any beauty brand.
(Goody Bag contents : Kate Somerville ExfoliKate® Intensive Exfoliating Treatment 15ml, Hourglass Caution Extreme Lash Mascara 9.4g (Full Size), Clarins Instant Eye Make-Up Remover 50ml, Laura Mercier Caviar Eyeshadow Stick 1g (shade will vary), Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath in shade ‘Peachy Plump’ 10ml (Full Size), Benefit The POREfessional Super Setter Spray 30ml, Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base 7ml, Murad Retinol Youth Renewal Eye Serum 5ml, IT Cosmetics Bye Bye Makeup 10g, NARS Orgasm Blush 3.5g, Elemis Resurfacing Facial Wash 200ml (Full Size), Philip Kingsley Elasticizer 40ml, Dermalogica Invisible Physical Defence 7ml, Fresh Rose Face Mask 15ml, Bumble and Bumble Bond Building Treatment 30ml.)
(I hadn’t realised I hadn’t included the Charlotte Tilbury Collagen Lip Bath in the photograph above until I caught Rosie hiding it in her bedroom. What can I say, she clearly has taste.)
Such an impressive goody bag! I am really looking forward to trying the Hourglass mascara – all of the products I have tried of theirs are divine and the Elemis Resurfacing Facial Wash is great to brighten dull, tired skin.
We not only learnt about the key products from the brand but also a great deal about the ingredients themselves, which for a skincare enthusiast was amazing. My younger sister had also managed to book a ticket to the events which meant we could debrief and share notes afterwards. We are polar opposites when it comes to skincare – despite the fact she has amazing skin she is not overly interested in the science skincare and usually just buys what I tell her that she needs. We both came away with not only a lot of new knowledge but also a legnthy wishlist.
I had planned on purchasing their iconic CC cream – I have read so many great reviews and had previously tried to get hold if it via QVC but my shade was always out of stock. I say my shade but I haven’t actually tried it yet – I usually just pick the very lightest and hope for the best. I am really looking forward to giving it a try but I am being unusually restrained and waiting until I have finished the foundations in my makeup bag currently – Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation and the Dior Nude BB Cream.
John Lewis had 20% off IT Cosmetics for the weekend so with the £15 redeemed from the ticket price, I bought the Your Skin But Better CC cream (Fair) 12ml travel size and the 15ml travel size Hello Results Retinol Serum-in-Cream for a total of £12.20. Travel sizes and minis are usually the worst value compared to full sizes but I was being uncharacteristically controlled as I already have quite a few foundations to get through. The goody bag also contains a 10g mini of the Bye Bye Makeup which although they didn’t mention in the masterclass is a great try me size – a balm cleanser is my go-to method of makeup removal and it is always good to try a new one!
Of course you can never just buy a couple of things from John Lewis so I ended up stocking up on some crisp, white flannels, some bits for the house and a replacement of the prosecco bottle stopper that I swear by. I don’t know if it is just me but I absolutely hate paying for postage – there is always *something* that I can buy to bump up the order.
Did you manage to grab a ticket? Have you tried anything from IT Cosmetics?
