Products I have used up recently – Body and Hair (November 2021).

I am still trying to power through the half empty products that I have cluttering up my house. I can’t help but get over excited about newness and then end up neglecting the products I have been using. These posts not only hold me accountable for trying to use up the bits left in the bottle of bottles but also lets me look back at what I have repurchased numerous times as well as giving a better indication of what I have thought of the products. This post focuses on Body and Hair products with posts following with Skincare and Makeup.

Loreal Elnett Hairspray with Shine – Strong Hold.

Another empty bottle of Loreal Elnett – it takes me a while to get through one as I only tend to use it when I curl my hair. Unlike many hairsprays, it doesn’t leave your hair stiff or feeling dry. I am not loyal to any particular version, changing it up with each new bottle.

Philip Kingsley Perfecting Primer

Heat protectant is something I always try to use on my hair, especially with it being bleached as well as naturally curly. I am not particularly loyal to any brand and often just pick up whatever is on offer. This came in a Philip Kingsley set and it worked really well, my hair wasn’t greasy or weighed down and it smelt reasonably nice.

Jo Malone Wood Sage and Sea Salt 30ml.

This is the fragrance that I reach for everyday as it is incredibly easy to wear and although not incredibly long lasting (as it is a cologne rather than an EDT or EDP) it suits most occasions. Ambrette Seeds, Sea Salt and Sage creates a light fragrance that is both fresh and earthy, whilst Grapefruit adds a slight sharpness. It isn’t as floral as I would usually go for but I use it everyday for work and always get complimented on it.

Elemis Frangipani Monoi Bath and Shower Nectar.

Unfortunately this doesn’t seem to be available individually. This was a stocking filler from my mum who stocks up on QVC TSVs and saves the bits she doesn’t need for (very well received) gifts for my sisters and I. The frangipani monoi scents is one of my absolute favourites (along with Clarins Tonic range and my beloved Chanel No5 bath gel.) The texture is more of a light oil rather than a gel so it is one that you have to be careful with, especially with slippery hands.

Aveeno Cream with Natural Colloidal Oatmeal

I use Aveeno on both myself and Rosie as wee both suffer from exceama and this is one of the few things that clears it up.  It is also the cream recommended and prescribed by the burns department at our local Children’s Hospital when Rosie burnt her arm – it soothes any redness and moisturises without any irritation. I also like that it isn’t perfumed, especially when it comes to using it on Rosie. We go through the big pump bottles every month or so but I tend to have a smaller tube like this for travel or for in my changing bag.

Stella by Stella McCartney EDP

Before it was discontinued this was my signature scent, the fragrance that any of my friends would say reminded them of me. It was the fragrance that taught me what notes to look out for in other fragrances (Rose, Peony, Mandarin are found in both Stella and another favourite, Miss Dior Blooming bouquet). I still have a nearly full bottle to keep me going but I still cross my fingers that it reappears on the shelves soon.

This Works Deep Sleep Pillow Spray

I am quite lucky to apart from a couple of brief periods, never have suffered with insomnia. I use a sleep spray most evenings as part of my evening ritual and have used this as my default for the past couple of years. I can’t say for certain if it helps me have a better nights sleep as I am still waking up at least once in the night with Rosie but it smells great and thankfully doesn’t mark our linens.

Clarins After Sun Moisturiser – Ultra Hydrating. (Discontinued)

I picked this up in a GWP last year and finished the last of it by using it on my arms rather than saving for Summer. Clarins is one of my go to brands for both body SPF and aftersun and I have worked my way through countless tubes over the years. It gets rid of the parched feeling on your skin after sun exposure without being too greasy and transferring on to your clothes. This one seems to be it’s replacement although the gel version sounds equally great.

Have you tried any of these products? What was the last thing that you used up?

First-Time Mama to Rosie - MUA / Retail Manager - Fuelled by Coffee and Concealer - Dairy Free - Weaning Toddler - Extended Breastfeeding.

L’Oreal Elnett will forever remind me of university/living together times of putting our hair through the ringer going out and curling it all the time!

I am forever trying to use products up and even though I rarely add to my collection it doesn’t seem to be going down at any speed. I envy you for managing to use up such a good selection, well done you.

A good pillow spray is a life saver, once part of your routine it feels odd to not have it. I am glad to still have the Neal’s Yard minis you bought me a few Christmases ago as I can fill those up if I am travelling / away from home and can still have the calming scent when I head to bed.
