    My current evening skincare routine.

When I am feeling under the weather my skincare is one of the first things to slip. I stop indulging in a multi step regime and focus on the bare essentials. I absolutely cannot sleep with makeup on which is a blessing in disguise at it forces me to at least take it off. but apart from that it really is the absolute minimum. The products I am currently using focus on getting the most efficacy with minimum effort. There are a few steps in my routine that are still missing – mainly a retinol and vitamin c, so if you have any recommendations then please let me know. Of…

    Quick and easy pancake recipe.

I will leave it to you to decide whether I am late to the pancake day party or simply super early for next year. It was when I was making pancakes with Rosie on Shrove Tuesday that I realised just how quick and easy they are to make. Rosie has been really interested in helping me in the kitchen and this recipe is simple enough that she knows what to do at each step.  This recipe makes about 12 pancakes, depending on how big you make them. These are a fluffy, scotch pancake style and are my go to. They are also much easier than crepes for little hands and…

Celebrating Galentine’s Day in Lockdown 3.0

“What’s Galentine’s Day? It’s only the best day of the year!                     “Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home and we just come and kick it breakfast style. Ladies celebrating ladies.”                   – Leslie Knopes, Parks and Recreation. First hitting the calendar in 2010, Galentine’s is all about celebrating the women in your life. Single or not, this day is all about empowering, supporting and drinking fizz with your best friends. Falling today, the day before Valentine’s day (in case you have forgotten) we will…

What I have been watching lately.

I am 100% the binge a whole season in a weekend kind of person. I really struggle to remember to watch at the same time every week and then have the storyline spoiled on my Twitter feed. I also have zero patience for storylines drawn out for months and will likely get bored and give up.  These are the programmes that I have watched lately that I would recommend.  Tiny Pretty Things (Netflix) I hadn’t seen any reviews of this but it popped up on my recommendations and I thought I would give it a go. If you liked Pretty Little Liars then you will most likely be a fan…

The best of budget beauty. Products under £10.

There are some products that are not only a complete bargain, but also rival their more spendy counterparts. These products are essentials in my collection and many of them have been repurchased time and time again.  The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 £5.90 Hyaluronic Acid can attract up to 1000 times its weight in water, but the key to it absorbing in to the skin is the molecule size. This tri-molecrular formula not only provides immediate relief to surface dryness but also helps to strengthen the moisture barrier. The results are remarkable but the skin does feel slightly tacky after application which I haven’t noticed with pricier alternatives.  The…

Products I have used up recently.

In the spirit of decluttering, downsizing my stash and finding my holy grail products I have been trying to finish up as many opened products as possible. Having previously worked in the cosmetic industry has meant I have an excessive amount of products which I am working my way through. I love reading these posts as you can get a better idea of how a product performs by using it to the end rather than just once or twice. I have used the coloured hearts below as a guide for which I would or would not repurchase.  Will repurchase immediately. Will repurchase at some point but I am in no…

    Reflecting on 2020.

2020 has been tough. There is absolutely no mistaking how much the world has changed in the past 12 months. We could never have imagined that we would spend the majority of the year unable to see our family, queuing outside supermarkets and tuning in to Boris’ speeches with our hopes pinned on being in Tier 2. I can’t say that it has been a year of joy and ease. We lost two very important people in my life, my Uncle at the end of last year and my Granny just before Christmas. We haven’t been able to visit Rosie’s nursery and see her new classroom. We were unable to…

TopCashback Christmas Treats – Guide and Clues.

I first started using TopCashback whilst I was at University as a way to earn a little money back on my copious amounts of online shopping. I ended up collecting hundreds of pounds, money that I wouldn’t have had otherwise. As there is 1 week left of the TopCashback Christmas Treats event, I thought I would share the way to earn a bit of extra cash for free. How Does TopCashback Work? ‘Every time you make a purchase via a link on TopCashback, the retailer is paid a small percentage as a commission which TopCashback then shares a proportion of with you.’  There is no minimum amount to release your…

    Christmas ‘Would You Rather’ Tag.

Deciding on a whim to take part in Blogmas, the night before it started was probably not my best idea. Without any blogposts prepared, no photos taken and living in a tier 3 area means that I have been suffering a bit of writer’s block. It has been a tough month in my personal life but I am determined to keep posting as I have really enjoyed doing so and the community I have found have really boosted my confidence.  I recently took part in the Christmas Blogger Tag and thoroughly enjoyed it so when I saw Claire from Our Favourite Jar post the Christmas Would You Rather Tag on…

    Why we love toy rotation.

Rosie, like so many other toddlers, is very lucky to have a large family who love to spoil her with toys and books. I am also a serial bargain hunter and the majority of the toys and books I have bought Rosie have been second hand. As you can imagine, this means we have a lot of toys which can often be forgotten about.  Toy rotation involves having a smaller amount of toys and books out at one time. Quite often they are displayed openly, on shelves or a bookcase to allow the child to freely pick what they want to play with. By having an edited selection of toys at one…
